Pattaya

Before traveling to Pattaya, we had to get our fill of Thai BBQ Chicken again before we left.  Afterward, we made our way from Bangkok to Pattaya via van.  It was a 2 1/2 hour drive South.  Pattaya is a very touristy town, it sets on a gulf.  Now I’m from Texas and our gulf in Galveston or Corpus Christi is nice but not beautiful, the water is brown.  Pattaya’s gulf is aqua blues and greens as you’ll see in the pictures below.   We got there and checked in to the Zthrough Hotel (catchy name) which was absolutely a place where you could live.  It is a hotel that has the look and feel of a spa.  The rooms are all individual units that front out into a 4 foot pool, right outside your door.  The rooms have a garden tub big enough to have a party.  Amazing creations with towels mark occasional lounge chairs outside each room.  A floating bar sits near the lobby area of the hotel.  It was a very peaceful and relaxing place.  After we checked in we of course had to make our way to the beach.  We picked out our spot amongst the thousands of beach umbrella’s and lounge chairs and settled in as we enjoyed fresh coconut drinks, mangoes and jack fruit.  The men in our group partook in a foot massage and/or manicure right there on the beach while we people watched, which is my favorite thing to do.  We began to notice that there were a lot of Russians on the beach and in the town.  While people watching, it became very evident that a lot of folks needed to have a good friend to sit them down and tell them what ‘not’ to wear on the beach, it is a public place no less.  Lot’s of things were exposed that should not have been, lol!!!  Nonetheless, we had a great time.  It was time to go see a Broadway quality show called Tiffany’s.  It was a terrific performance that did not allow picture taking during the show, but afterwards we were able to get up close and personal with the performers and take pictures outside the theater.  The costumes and actors were stunning and beautiful.  Once we left there we went to a very secluded seafood  restaurant.  The seating is outdoors and it sets right beside the gulf where they have fishing boats that catch the seafood right there and cook it fresh.  You walked around these vats of sea creatures and picked out your meal for them to cook for you.You can’t get any fresher than that.  The shrimp are huge.  In the pictures the tiles beneath them are 12 inches, to give you a perspective.  They had a large outdoor movie screen that played music videos.  All the music videos were of American and British singers. Mark got into a tussle with a shrimp, in the end Mark won but the shrimp spewed brain matter all over his shirt.   It was great, the food was amazing and of course the company was the best part of the day.  We’re taking a boat excursion tomorrow to an island for a day of more relaxation, which you can see in the background of a couple of the pictures, so stay tuned for day 6.

This day is a combination of Bangkok and Pattaya Foods, no matter it’s all Thai!!
