Day 02 – The Beer Barn

Our day got underway around 11:00 we decided to change hotels to The Montien Hotel, wow what an upgrade.  It is a 5 star hotel with some fabulous views, beautiful architecture and working Internet (that you have to pay for) but it’s worth it just getting it to work.  We decided that Dim Sum was ticket for lunch, it was fabulous.  So we went to Ho Kitchen Seafood Restaurant where we had some absolutely fabulous food.  After that we went and had an hour and half Thai Massage in an exclusive Club where they take you into a private area with soothing music and work you over, it’s one of those ‘feels so good it hurts’ moments.  Afterwards, we met with Watson and his two boys Sam and Pete along with their family for dinner at Ah Yat Abalone, where we had lobster, fish, fried rice and an interesting stew of Abalone (extremely expensive), deer tendon, sea cucumber and goose foot.  OK, now for anyone that knows me I’m not the real adventurous type when it comes to eating bizarre items.  I did try the Abalone and the Sea cucumber and I must say I liked them, I would not try the deer tendon or goose foot…but Susan did of course, she said she liked them, whatever.  Anyway the company was absolutely delightful and I can honestly say we made some new friends.  The night’s not over yet, OH NO, we had to visit the Beer Barn at Tawandang German Brewery.  A place that if you didn’t see all the Thai people, you would swear you were in Texas, hence the name The Beer Barn.  The roof above the Cooper Brewery tanks is shaped like a wood barrel.  The live music stage features a Band called Shor On Band, the lead singer is Thai and he sounds better than any American singer I’ve ever heard, they were absolutely fabulous.  To top it all off, they serve their house brewed beer in what Mark described as a “Beer Bong” at your table and the chips are Shrimp Chips not Potato Chips.  Needless to say, everyone got toasted at the Beer Barn except me and Elizabeth, it was all good fun.  Check out the pictures below.  The Beer Barn at Tawandang German Brewery is the place to visit for some outstanding entertainment and some awesome beer or cocktails.
